What would you do if you were going through a divorce and had to determine the custody of your children? Would you fight tooth-and-nail to get full custody? Perhaps you would bring up every possible negative aspect about your spouse in order to hurt his/her chances of getting custody. While it might be tempting to act in such a manner, in most cases, it’s much easier when both parents work together to resolve child custody issues.

The often-contentious child custody battle between Avengers star Jeremy Renner and his soon-to-be ex-wife appears to over. After trading barbs in the media for the past several months, the estranged couple has reportedly resolved their dispute and come to an agreement outside of court. According to court documents, the couple, which had both been seeking full custody of their 2-year-old daughter, has agreed to share joint custody. A judge has already reportedly approved the settlement.

As part of the agreement, Mr. Renner will also pay his estranged wife $13,000 a month in child support. The agreement came just a day before the couple was to appear in court for hearing regarding the manner. Both parties had continually made accusations throughout the process against one another and both publicly questioned the other’s parenting ability. However, as part of the settlement, both parties have agreed to stop the disparaging remarks towards each other in front of their daughter. The soon-to-be exes have also agreed to formulate a joint parenting plan with the help of a therapist.

Even though both parties had serious disagreements with one another and both were seeking full custody, it is always good to see when parents can overcome their own disagreements and hurt feelings to work together for their children’s sake. In this instance both parties have put their differences aside to put their daughter’s best interests first.
