What are the requirements to get a divorce in Illinois?
In order to get a divorce in Illinois, you or your spouse must have been a resident of the state for at least 90 days. You must then file a petition for divorce, asserting that your marriage has broken down due to “irreconcilable differences,” and live separate from your spouse for 6 months before a final judgment can be ordered.
