An Evanston family is facing the prospect of having to surrender their 7-month-old daughter Sehwa Kim to U.S. officials. The family adopted Sehwa from South Korea and is arguing that it is in the child’s best interests to remain with them in Evanston. South Korean officials are seeking to have Sehwa returned to her home country, claiming that she was taken unlawfully from Korea to the United States and needs additional legal protection because she was born to an unwed mother.
