Why is it that divorce almost always has to be difficult? There are many reasons for that, including the fact that in order to end the divorce process you have to deal with a person with whom you have already been unable to work for many months and quite possibly for many years. That means you are probably already dealing with anger, hurt feelings and many other possible strong emotions.
Add to that the fact that you have to divide your property and determine spousal support, and if children are involved, determine child custody and child support. With all of that to think about, how could it not be difficult?
A wealthy Chicago couple continues to battle it out in and out of court as their lengthy divorce process rages on. The case involves billionaire hedge fund manager Ken Griffin, who founded Citadel and his estranged wife, Anne Dias Griffin. According to recent court documents, Ms. Dias Griffin claims that starting in February her estranged husband will no longer allow her free access to the couple’s Chicago high-rise apartment condo, and that he has not made any monthly child support payments.
Ms. Dias Griffin has asked the court to resolve the child support issue promptly and she has also asked that the couple’s prenuptial agreement be thrown out. She claims that Mr. Griffin has threatened to end her stay at the expensive Chicago condo and will no longer pay for the cost of the apartment. Meantime, a representative of Mr. Griffin says that Ms. Dias Griffin’s claims are unfounded and that Mr. Griffin is taking care of his children as necessary. Mr. Griffin also claims that his estranged wife signed the prenuptial agreement and that she has already received nearly $40 million under the agreement.
This is a classic he said/she said battle that is sure to rage on both in and out of court, as the couple has disagreements on many other issues as well.
